Job Overview
Nebraska Public Media is building a new daily talk show designed to inform, engage, and connect Nebraskans through timely conversations on news, public affairs, culture, education, health, and issues affecting communities across the state. The show will be produced for both radio and digital platforms, focusing on strong storytelling, thoughtful interviews, audience engagement, and content that reflects the interests and needs of Nebraska audiences.
Responsibilities- Utilize original storytelling skills, strong writing, and organizational skills to create, produce, write, and edit multi‑media content for the daily radio talk show.
- Produce segments, conduct interviews, research topics, and book guests for radio and digital audiences.
- Serve as a fill‑in host for the radio talk show, hosting live interviews and maintaining audience engagement.
- Demonstrate skill in news reporting, researching, copywriting, and editing while meeting strict deadlines.
- Engage with current events and present content in a manner that reflects the interests and needs of Nebraska audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or a related field.
- One (1) year of news reporting and/or experience in the production of news/public affairs programming.
- Experience originating, developing, writing, and producing content.
- Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Two (2) years of experience in news reporting and/or production of news/public affairs programming.
- On‑air hosting experience.
- Knowledge of talk show production.
- Experience with standard broadcast equipment.
- Experience with digital audio editing software.
- Experience with digital editing and radio production.
- Familiarity with podcasting and digital platforms.
