Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree
  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement in Special Education.
  • Training and teaching experience in regular and special education, with emphasis on Specific Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorders, and At‑Risk Students.
  • Knowledge of psycho‑educational diagnosis, instructional techniques and materials, methods for individualizing instruction, and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Knowledge in behavior modification and management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong conflict management, problem‑solving, evaluation, organizational, and decision‑making abilities.
Compensation

$43,896.00 (Base Salary based on 26‑27 Salary Schedule) + $9,000.00 (Certified annual flat salary stipend) = $52,896.00 Total Gross Annual Salary.

Roles & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Meet and instruct assigned students at the designated locations and times.
  • Develop and implement appropriate pre‑vocational skills activities.
  • Collaborate with administrators and other teachers to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods, ensuring ample accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Plan a program of study and find modifications that meet the interests and abilities of each student, utilizing varied assessment techniques.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of disabilities and coordinate with District specialists when necessary.
  • Help select books, equipment, assistive devices, and instructional materials; suggest modifications as required.
  • Supervise and assign appropriate tasks for teacher assistants.
  • Develop classroom rules and procedures, maintain order, and enforce policies in a fair manner.
  • Supervise emergency preparedness programs, including fire drills.
  • Follow Board and administration regulations and conduct policies.
  • Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and participate in professional development (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.).
  • Assess student progress regularly; provide progress reports and maintain accurate records of attendance, absences, and tardies.
  • Develop, write, and implement behavior modification programs; prepare IEP documentation as required.
  • Communicate and consult with students, parents, and professional staff regarding educational programs and IEP/MDT processes.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Physical Requirements

    Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, pull, push, climb, and drive regularly. Maximum lifting of 50 pounds and carrying up to 150 feet are occasional requirements. Computer, A/V equipment, copy machines, and telephone operation are essential manual dexterity tasks.

    Work Conditions
    • Inside, outdoor, and both environments are included.
    • Primary working environment: heated and air‑conditioned classroom.
    • Possible hazards: communicable disease exposure, furniture, equipment, and stairs.
