Job Description

3rd Grade Teacher at Howard Elementary.

Location

Howard Elementary, Fremont, Nebraska.

Qualifications
  • Educational level:
    Bachelor's Degree.
  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement and level.
  • Experience:

    Experience working with students during college training or previous teaching.
  • Other requirements:
    Good human relations skills; ability to work with students, staff, administration, and parents; knowledge of subject area; ability to plan lessons; knowledge of child development; excellent oral and written communication; ability to operate a computer.
Responsibilities
  • Regular reliable in-person attendance.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that match the intended curriculum and meet individual student needs.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies.
  • Serve as a model for students.
  • Evaluate student performance, both written tests and performance-based assessments.
  • Collaborate with other teachers on instructional goals.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies for student conduct and classroom behavior.
  • Supervise and participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness.
  • Follow Board and district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Attend staff meetings, parent/teacher conferences, and committees.
  • Participate in professional growth through workshops, seminars, conferences, in-services, and advanced coursework.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary per 2026-27 Salary Schedule plus an Annual Flat Salary Stipend. Total gross salary for BA, Step 1 is $52,896.00 ($43,896 + $9,000 stipend). FPS values professional growth and supports a New Teacher Mentorship Program. New Teachers offered a one-time salary advance for August paycheck. Paid leave: 4 personal days, 9 sick days, 5 bereavement days, civic leave, professional leave.

Certified staff join a Sick Leave Bank annually. Parental teachers can use up to 4 sick days per year for FPS-sponsored activities. Retirement: FPS member of Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System. Long-term disability, $10,000 life insurance, quarterly attendance bonus. Additional benefits: health (fps contributes to premium), dental, vision, voluntary life, 403(b), flexible spending, supplemental policies via AFLAC and Colonial Life (short-term disability, accident insurance, group cancer, hospitalization/critical illness).
