Job DescriptionPosition: Health Para educator (3 positions available)
Location: District Wide (High School, Bell Field, Howard; may involve travel between schools)
Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Student Days
Reports To: Building Administrator/School Nurse

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Post‑secondary training desired
Certification/Licensure: Current First Aid/CPR/AED preferred, CNA/CMA/LPN preferred, Drivers License required
Experience Desired:
- Working with children/students and/or in a health occupation
- Experience in medical or caregiving settings highly desirable
Other Requirements:
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Understanding of basic reading and math skills
- Successful completion of District training and competencies
Perform health/medical care procedures under RN supervision, including medication dispensing, suctioning, tube feeding, de‑compression, clean catheterization, and supervision of students. Follow State of Nebraska and District para educator guidelines.
Frequently perform:
- Demonstrate ability to fulfill assigned duties as directed by supervisors
- Assist with clerical and daily organizational duties
- Attend professional development meetings and workshops as requested
- Maintain confidentiality of student information; communicate progress or concerns only with supervisor authorization
- Establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and visitors
- Follow all school and district policies
- Cater to physical and health needs of students: first aid, feeding, toileting, transferring, positioning, medication administration, special care needs
- Assist with physical/occupational therapy exercises under OT/PT supervision
- Provide support services to the school nurse
- Aid with health screening programs
- Travel between buildings as assigned
- Carry out other duties assigned by the supervising school nurse or administrative staff
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, reaching/pulling/pushing, climbing, driving, lifting up to 60 lbs, carrying up to 50 ft. Manual dexterity tasks, including computer operation and use of first aid equipment, required.
Working ConditionsPrimary environment: heated, non‑air‑conditioned classroom or building; occasional off‑campus sites. Hazards: communicable diseases, furniture, equipment, frequent lifting.
