Qualifications:

  • A high school graduate or have GED
  • Must have strong desire to work with children in a caring manner
  • Ability to work effectively with staff and students
  • Bilingual preferred

Salary: $16.46 - $18.02 starting, per hour, depending on experience

$18.02 - $19.90 if bilingual, starting, per hour, depending on experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Post Secondary training is desired

Certification/Licensure:

  • Driver's License
  • First Aid/CPR certificate desired

  • Working with children/students, faculty, and staff

Other Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic reading and math skills.

Reports To:

Teacher(s) and Building Administrator

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of each employee's position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

Basic:

  • Assists the teacher in providing instruction to students whose native language is other than English. Abides by the guidelines established for para educators of the State of Nebraska and the District.

Frequent:

  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to perform and fulfill assigned duties as designated by the supervising teacher.
  • Assists the supervising teacher in the collection and preparation of instructional material and equipment.
  • Assists with the evaluation, monitoring and supervision of students' work.
  • Assists students in performing activities initiated by the supervising teacher.
  • Implements behavior management and modification techniques as structured and monitored by the supervising teacher for individual students.
  • Assists with various classroom clerical and daily organizational duties.
  • Attends professional development meetings and workshops for para educators.
  • Respects the confidentiality of information about students and communicates progress or concerns about students to parents or staff only with the authorization of the supervising teacher.
  • Exhibits a positive working relationship with students and staff.
  • Follows all rules and regulations relating to school and District policies.
  • Prepare ELL students to understand and participate in the teacher's instruction by identifying ELL students' prior knowledge and language and by previewing lessons in the students' native language or modified…
