Job Summary

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with rotating holidays.

Responsible for providing therapy services to individuals and their families independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Completes psychosocial assessments, facilitates family, group, and individual therapy as indicated, and develops, implements, and reviews treatment plans. Provides therapy services and care coordination for a spectrum of mental health conditions, with all activities in accordance with state and federal standards and Medical Staff Bylaws.

Maintains a Scope of Practice/Collaborative Practice Agreement with a qualified physician onactive medical staff at Methodist Fremont Health.

Responsibilities Essential Job Functions
  • Discuss patients’ responses to events and interactions between individual appointments and groups.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments.
  • Participate in treatment planning and work cooperatively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Diagnose and develop independent treatment plans in coordination with the team.
  • Implement and review treatment plans with patients.
  • Provide treatment coordination for assigned patients.
  • Offer individual, group, and family therapy as indicated.
Documentation
  • Document patient participation in group, individual, and family therapy on the day of occurrence.
  • Complete billing paperwork for reimbursement of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records containing protected health information.
Community & Development
  • Develop lectures and focus topics for program enhancement as requested.
  • Participate in in‑service training and team meetings.
  • Assist other departments with behavioral health program development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other hospital departments and outside community agencies.
  • Orient new staff members to the therapist role within Behavioral Health.
  • Keep the Director of Behavioral Health informed of patient needs and community issues.
  • Pursue continuing age‑related competency per patient population.
  • Apply knowledge of age‑appropriate developmental needs in assessment, treatment, and education.
  • Represent the Behavioral Health Service Line positively in the clinic and community.
  • Participate in marketing efforts for Behavioral Health through internal and external activities.
  • Attend and participate in required continuing education and staff development activities.
  • Maintain an accurate record of in‑service/staff development attendance.
Performance Improvement
  • Dedicate work performance to meeting and exceeding departmental performance improvement standards.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement programs and projects.
Business Acumen
  • Respond promptly to day‑to‑day business fluctuations and re‑prioritized assignments.
  • Perform routine assignments independently.
  • Seek direction for unusual or non‑routine duties.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of situations requiring additional expertise and follow‑up.
  • Manage time effectively; complete assignments within allotted time and prioritize tasks effectively.
Safety Initiative
  • Perform duties in accordance with organization and departmental safety policies, including OSHA, JCAHO, and CLIA.
  • Complete annual safety competencies and departmental in‑services.
Job Requirements
Education
  • Master’s degree with mental health therapy focus from a regionally accredited program, including graduate coursework in required areas.
  • Master’s degree (MSW) in Social Work preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2‑5 years’ experience in a clinical therapeutic environment or other relevant experience.
