GENERAL

SUMMARY:

The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

PRINCIPAL

JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • * Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • * Performs all types of CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
  • * Uses sterile technique as required.
  • * Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • * Performs venipuncture.
  • * Competently operates all CT equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, teleradiography, performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
  • * Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, etc., to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • * Properly cares for and imaging patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
  • * Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • * Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • * Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required.
  • * Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
  • * Keeps work area properly supplied.
