Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to focus primarily on transactional work in business, real estate, estate planning, and probate. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney looking to advance their career, with the potential to take over the practice from a senior partner within a few years. The role offers a balance of transactional work with the possibility of some litigation arising from these practice areas.
Duties:
- Provide legal services in transactional areas, including business law, real estate, estate planning, and probate.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents for business and real estate transactions.
- Counsel clients on estate planning and probate matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and related documents.
- Represent clients in legal proceedings related to estate and business disputes, if needed.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and independently manage client cases, ensuring excellent client communication and service.
- Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and stay updated on relevant changes in Nebraska law.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in business, real estate, estate planning, or probate law is preferred.
- Active law license in the state of Nebraska or the ability to obtain admission within 90 days of hire.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- An active member in good standing of the Nebraska State Bar or eligibility for admission within 90 days.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
- Expertise in drafting legal documents and providing legal advice in the areas of business, real estate, and estate planning.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and handle complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
- Strong oral advocacy skills for any potential litigation work that may arise from transactional cases.
