The primary focus of the Safety Compliance Manager position will be ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures under the OSHA and Workers Compensation Programs for all FCC Facilities, our driving fleet, and the general employee workforce.
In addition, this position will also be responsible for providing support to the Vice President of Safety in managing all areas of FMCSA compliance, training, and safety for our driving fleet.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Administration of the Worker’s Compensation Program, including determining areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention. Maintain complete and accurate records as required.
- Responsible for processing of Workers Compensation “First Report of Injury” and filing with the appropriate agencies.
- Responsible for coordinating return to duty status and/or light duty status for workers compensation claimants
- Conduct accident/incident injury investigations. Gather required information, prepare reports and maintain appropriate records.
- Administration of Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA) Programs
- Includes evaluating the goals and objectives of the program.
- Determine the training or support requirements and executing the training plan.
- Maintain complete and accurate OSHA compliance records as required.
- Responsible for recording and maintaining the OSHA 300 Log.
- Participate in the accident review process for all OSHA safety accident investigation reports or employee injuries.
- Determine cause and recommend and/or develop training programs to encompass preventative measures to reduce and/or eliminate reoccurrence events.
- In absence of the VP of Safety, will perform all safety related functions as needed and required
- Assist with licensing and permitting for trucks and trailers in the FCC Fleet.
- Assist in administering the drug and alcohol program to include scheduling of renewal physicals, random testing and testing for cause
- Responsible for conducting and/or scheduling driver new hire road tests
- Assist in reviewing and coaching in Lytx camera system.
- Assist in the preparation and facilitation of the monthly Driver Safety Meetings.
- Assist with CMV accident/incident investigations
- Answer phones and assist drivers with questions and provide counsel.
- Serve as a backup to all other safety positions.
- Will be required to perform other duties and special projects as requested, directed or assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities
- Safety focused. Safety is the over-riding factor in all decisions.
- Thorough understanding of current OSHA Regulations
- Thorough understanding of Workers Compensation Regulations
- Thorough knowledge of FMCSA Regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to deal with and solve problems involving several concrete variables in challenging situations
- Ability to effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds in potentially stressful situations.
- Proficient mathematical skills
- Proficient computer skills including Windows based programs
- Knowledge of Company policies and procedures and the ability and willingness to learn the rules and regulations for compliance in FMCSA Regulations and the Electronic Logging System.
- Transportation Related: 1 – 2 years (preferred)
- Safety Compliance: 1 – 2 years (preferred)
- OSHA / Workers Compensation: 2 years (preferred)
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
