Production and Operations Lead

Overview

Feed Mill Operations Manager – Fremont, Nebraska. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented candidate to oversee daily operations at our feed manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining product quality and safety standards, and leading a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in feed mill operations or a related field, along with proven leadership experience.

• Oversee all daily feed mill operations, including production, maintenance, inventory, and logistics
• Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, FSMA, HACCP, etc.)
• Provide leadership, training, and performance management to plant staff
• Maintain high standards for product quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction
• Monitor and optimize production efficiency, throughput, and cost control
• Coordinate preventative maintenance programs and minimize equipment downtime
• Manage ingredient sourcing, inventory control, and feed formulation processes (as applicable)
• Collaborate with nutritionists, quality assurance teams, and senior leadership
• Track operational metrics and prepare reports on performance and continuous improvement initiatives
• Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree in Feed Mill Management, Animal Science, Agriculture, Industrial Management, or a related field
• Alternative:
  Equivalent hands-on experience in feed mill or grain processing operations
• 5+ years of experience in feed mill operations, manufacturing, or related industry
• 2–3 years of supervisory or management experience
• Strong knowledge of feed manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards
• Experience with regulatory compliance (FDA, OSHA, FSMA)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with computerized batching systems and mill automation
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
• Knowledge of livestock nutrition and feed formulation processes
• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Primarily based in a feed mill production environment
• Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial setting
