Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor plays a key leadership role, oversees the daily activities of safety, quality, and production, and leads employees in all production procedures during the shift. The Shift Supervisor will serve as a liaison between management and the hourly operations team.

This is an exempt level position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily operations performed by hourly production colleagues to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently while meeting expected environmental quality, housekeeping, and production quantity goals established by the company.
  • Provide employees with resources in good working order to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Provide training to ensure employees understand operational procedures, SOPs, safe work practices, PPE requirements, and policies.
  • Create and assign tasks to effectively utilize team members' experience and capabilities.
  • Ensure the safety of all colleagues through training and compliance with occupational safety, health and environmental regulations, and leading by example.
  • Listen to and respond to colleague suggestions and concerns about safety, health, environment, product quality and housekeeping, and communicate concerns and improvement initiatives to all colleagues.
  • Address employee concerns and maintain good communications and morale on shift and within department, keeping plant management informed of all matters affecting morale and safety.
  • Evaluate colleague performance, provide regular feedback, and discuss disciplinary action with superintendents and human resources.
  • Attend and participate in operation area meetings, safety meetings, and supervisor’s meetings.
  • May perform production duties temporarily in the event of an emergency or employee absence.
  • Perform GEMBA walks.
  • Track and achieve KPI goals.
  • Recognize environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and contain them to avoid negative effects on colleague safety, product quality, and environmental pollution.
  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties as required.
Required Skills
  • Capability of working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, lifting 50 lbs repeatedly, and wearing a respirator.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time while performing job duties.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required, 4+ years of relevant work experience.
Required Experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead and train colleagues and build teams.
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational, troubleshooting and record‑keeping skills.
  • Passion for learning and willingness to assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production facility.
Desired Experience
  • Previous plant processing and leadership experience (union environment is a plus).
  • KPI tracking experience.
