Position: Weight Loss Management Nurse Practitioner - ALL STATES

Overview

Position: Nurse Practitioner – Medical Weight Loss & GLP-1 Therapy

Type: 1099 - Contract

Location: Remote / Telehealth

Compensation: Competitive

We are seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to support a growing medical weight loss program focused on safe, evidence-based care, including GLP-1 and related anti-obesity medications.

This role is ideal for clinicians who are comfortable evaluating patients for medical weight loss treatment, prescribing when clinically appropriate, monitoring progress, managing side effects, and helping patients achieve sustainable health outcomes.

Ideal Nurse Practitioner Specialties

We are especially interested in NPs with backgrounds in:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner — FNP
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner — AGPCNP
  • Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner — WHNP
  • Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Endocrinology-focused Nurse Practitioner
  • Internal Medicine / Metabolic Health NP
  • Obesity Medicine or Weight Management NP

Experience in primary care, endocrinology, diabetes care, metabolic health, women’s health, or obesity medicine is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct telehealth evaluations for patients interested in medical weight loss
  • Review medical history, current medications, contraindications, BMI, weight-related conditions, and risk factors
  • Determine clinical appropriateness for GLP-1s or other weight loss medications
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with applicable state laws, clinical guidelines, and company protocols
  • Educate patients on medication use, side effects, expectations, lifestyle changes, and safety considerations
  • Monitor patient progress, side effects, lab results, and treatment response
  • Adjust treatment plans when clinically appropriate
  • Document visits accurately and timely in the EHR
  • Coordinate with supervising/collaborating physicians when required by state law
  • Escalate complex cases or adverse reactions appropriately
Requirements
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in good standing
  • Board certification as an NP, preferably FNP, AGPCNP, WHNP, or similar primary-care-oriented specialty
  • Active DEA registration preferred, or willingness to obtain if needed
  • Experience prescribing or managing GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, or related therapies preferred
  • Comfortable practicing through telehealth
  • Strong understanding of obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, cardiovascular risk, and medication contraindications
  • Ability to follow evidence-based protocols while exercising independent clinical judgment
  • Excellent bedside manner, patient education skills, and documentation habits
  • Must be authorized to practice in the state(s) where patients are located
Preferred Qualifications
  • Obesity medicine, endocrinology, primary care, or weight management experience
  • Multi-state licensure
  • Experience with cash-pay, D2C, or telehealth weight loss programs
  • Familiarity with lab review, metabolic panels, A1C, thyroid labs, lipid panels, and cardiovascular risk screening
  • Experience managing patients with diabetes, PCOS, insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome
  • Knowledge of GLP-1 prior authorization, affordability, and medication access challenges
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for clinicians who are thoughtful, safe, and patient-centered. This is not a high-volume “prescribe for everyone” role. The right candidate understands that GLP-1 medications can be powerful tools, but they require appropriate screening, patient education, follow-up, and clinical oversight.

You should be comfortable saying “yes” when treatment is appropriate and “not yet” or “no” when a patient needs a different level of care, further labs, or medical clearance.

Example Candidate Profile

A strong candidate may currently work or have experience in:

  • Primary care
  • Endocrinology
  • Women’s health
  • Obesity medicine
  • Diabetes management
  • Functional/metabolic health
  • Telehealth-based weight loss care
