Job Summary
Work Schedule:
9am to 9pm with Every Third Weekend Rotation.
The practice of nursing by a registered nurse (RN) shall mean the assumption of responsibility and accountability for those nursing actions which include, but are not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a nursing diagnosis. Execution of the prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic regimens, administering, delegating, and evaluating nursing activities.

- Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of patient's rights.
- Transcribes/countersigns physician orders; implements orders and documents all patient-related information; receives and interprets physician orders, allowing no misunderstanding.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and insight of patient's ability to understand what activity is occurring during Methodist Fremont Health (MFH) visit/hospitalization.
- Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and reactions, incidents, and abnormal laboratory and x-ray results, as required.
- Is accurate and complete in planning care for the patient according to needs from admission to discharge.
- Shows ability to modify planning according to the current flow of events while maintaining positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of the hospital and department.
- Documentation of all assessments and reassessments implementation and evaluation of patient care determined is accurate, legible, and timely.
- Utilizes effective clinical delegation skills. Demonstrates accountability from knowing that appropriate nursing care is being delivered to assigned patients and evaluates outcome of delegation.
- Always demonstrates accountability for administration of, observation and reporting effects of drugs, intravenous procedures, other therapeutic and diagnostic measures in a safe and accurate manner; carefully orders, prepares, administers and evaluates medication and intravenous therapy.
- Is able to accurately assess care for a patient's unique need (I.e. diagnosis, age) including physical-psychosocial aspects in accordance with unit guidelines.
- Utilizes the history and assessment information to identify patient problems or potential problems and set goals.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively utilize the nursing process when providing direct patient care for all individuals from infancy through advanced age, as unit competency completed.
- Executes planned care and evaluation outcomes for all patients under his/her care. Modifies the care plan according to evaluated outcomes.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care appropriately (I.e. shift report, unit to unit, transfer, etc.).
- Assesses, develops, and implements a teaching plan for patients/families; utilizes assessment data and discharge plan in a meaningful way for each patient's ability to understand. Monitors plan according to need.
- Maintains standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of the hospital and the department.
- Provides direct patient care utilizing professional nursing skills and judgment according to physicians and other licensed practitioner's orders.
- Performs technical aspects of patient care and consistently demonstrates clinical competencies according to established policies and procedures; utilizes proper techniques; adapts techniques to unique needs of individual patients.
- Is proficient in operation of supporting equipment (including, but not limited to) Pyxis, computer data entry, One Touch, and IMED.
- Demonstrates safety consciousness and incorporates safe practice at all times.
- Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Demonstrates ability to organize and execute new procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency in placing, evaluating, and maintaining IV lines.
- Demonstrates ability to operate various equipment and supplies that are used.
- Demonstrates proficiency in airway management.
- Demonstrates ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in emergency situations.
- Provides for patient comfort; positioning, extra bathing, straightening linens, putting personal articles within reach, courtesy, responsiveness as required.
- A formal training program after high school required.
- Graduate from an accredited Diploma School of Nursing/College of Nursing with an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science (BSN) required.
- Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months…
