RECREATION LEADER - FRIENDSHIP CENTER
Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.00
This is part-time, non-benefited position with hours of 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in days and hours may be available.
NATURE OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Fremont Friendship Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager, the Recreation Leader performs a variety of duties and responsibilities.
This position also assists with any fund raisers held for the center. The recreation leader will assist in monthly activities for the Adaptive Recreation Program, working with special need participants that are eighteen and older. Evening hours to assist with Adaptive Recreation Program or Supper clubs may occur once a month.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following examples of work are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
* Greet and assist senior center visitors answering questions regarding the center.
* Monitor activities and assist with daily activities held at the center.
* Assist with daily meal check-in, preparation of food, taking temperatures, serving and clean up duties. This does require up to fifty pounds of lifting.
* Serve as a receptionist; screen all incoming telephone calls, transfer, and direct calls to appropriate staff, take messages, as necessary. Assist in taking lunch reservations.
* Assist seniors in filling out intake cards. Complete various forms and paperwork as needed.
* Assist in moving and rearranging furniture and equipment and setting up areas and rooms for special classes and /or events. Will require minimal lifting.
* Help open and close senior center as needed.
* Update bulletin boards and flyer rack as needed.
* Set up for bingo including handing out cards/ markers, arranging prizes and calling bingo as needed.
* Direct and assist volunteers, as necessary.
* Performs other work which is consistent with the essential functions of the job.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
* Kitchen procedures, methods used, and equipment usage required by the State of Nebraska.
* Knowledge and familiarity with food service operations and knowledge of food service handling.
* Basic knowledge of computers and a willingness to learn Microsoft office.
* Detailed in monthly reports with accuracy upon completion.
* Ability to communicate clearly and accurately to seniors, co-workers, supervisor, volunteers, and the public.
* Ability to understand, follow and conduct policies and procedures.
* Ability to perform physical activities necessary to complete assigned work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Employee must possess and maintain a CPR Certification.
* Ability to learn needed guidelines associated with the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging and the State of Nebraska for annual inspections.
* Employee must possess a valid driver's license.
