Compensation$26 - $30 per hour
Position SummaryResponsible for the safe operation of industrial trucks in the transport and delivery of construction materials to railroad construction jobsites. Performs a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment.
- Drive 20% and work
80% is in the field as a laborer/operator. - Drive crew to and from job site.
- Drive a 750 crew truck with air brakes.
- Hauling heavy equipment and rail construction material.
Operates equipment to move, load, or unload material — approximately 20% of the role; the other 80% involves general labor tasks.
Installs equipment or attachments on machinery and related structures; performs repairs, maintenance, and emergency adjustments as needed.
Operates equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine safety and maintenance checks in compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
Coordinates machine actions with other crew members using hand or audio signals; signals directions or warnings as necessary.
Identifies and avoids hazards such as utility lines, falling objects, or nearby workers; locates underground services before beginning work.
Reviews instructions, plans, and diagrams to understand work requirements.
RequiredSkills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a driver in a construction environment
- Must have a CDL class A Drivers License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Driving Record
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures
- Ability to read and understand construction specifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Works at construction sites and travels as required.
- Frequently uses hands to operate tools, materials, and vehicle controls; relies on eye-hand-foot coordination and full range of vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception).
- Sits for extended periods in enclosed vehicles and performs repetitive motions.
- Regularly lifts or moves heavy equipment and objects up to 50 pounds.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, and extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).
