Cedar Bus Company LLC offers a rewarding career as a Transportation Driver. Travelers transport clients safely from pickup to destination. You will perform pre‑trip inspections, post‑route child checks, maintain DOT compliant vehicles, and receive paid training to obtain a CDL if required. Training is paid at $16 per hour. Once credentialed you will be paid a minimum $17.51 per hour, with a maximum of $18.00 per hour depending on licensing.
If you already possess a CDL with Passenger endorsement, pay starts at $17.51 per hour.
- Safely transport clients to and from programs in the morning and afternoon runs.
- Obey all applicable vehicle and traffic laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and report any defects to management.
- Keep the bus clean, fueled, and properly maintained, topping off fluids as needed.
- Ensure safety of all clients, including securing wheelchair‑bound clients and operating the wheelchair lift.
- Keep routes updated and inform dispatch of any issues (e.g., running behind schedule).
- Assist clients with boarding and alighting the bus.
- Assist with cleaning the bus daily and use PPE appropriately.
- Report all disciplinary issues to operations management.
- Work as a member of a team—including monitors, operations staff, and customers.
- Attend scheduled safety trainings.
- Remain dependable and punctual.
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
Typical Monday‑through‑Friday schedule; this is a split‑shift position with AM runs in the morning and PM runs into the evening. Weekend work may be requested as needed. Drivers spend 90–95% of their time on the road; other duties include site visits, training, cleaning, and general support.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and a NYS driver’s license – CDL Class “C” or higher with passenger endorsement (or CLP). Paid training is offered if you do not yet have this.
- NYS‑DMV 19A qualified (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to pull and push 250lb and lift up to 50lb.
- Ability to sit for long periods and bend to secure wheelchair‑bound clients.
- Empathy toward clients.
- Willingness to grow within the company.
- Experience in transportation industry.
- Experience with transportation, logistics, or navigation software.
- Experience using electronics and tablets.
- Experience transporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- First aid qualification.
