This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations at the plant level while acting as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager. This position offers the opportunity to drive financial performance, influence operational decision‑making, and lead a high‑performing accounting team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Ideally you are coming from Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive plant.
Position OverviewReporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Plant Controller is responsible for managing all financial functions of the facility, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can balance financial rigor with operational insight, providing clear, data‑driven recommendations to support plant performance and long‑term growth.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Reporting- Lead all plant financial functions, including cost and general accounting, product costing, capacity planning, and time studies
- Analyze operating costs and variances, providing actionable insights to leadership
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting on plant performance, programs, and initiatives
- Develop, maintain, and enhance forecasting and budgeting models
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Plant Manager, supporting strategic and operational decision-making
- Partner with cross‑functional leadership to align financial plans with production and business objectives
- Contribute as a key member of the management team in planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives (TQM / Best Methods)
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
- Prepare and manage special financial analyses, studies, and projects
- Manage all audit activities, including preparation of audit binders and required documentation
- Coordinate directly with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
- Drive accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance function
Accounting team (Accountants and/or Accounting Clerks)
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive plant experience or high volume manufacturing plant experience
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong background in cost accounting, financial analysis, and plant operations support
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
