CAD Designer - 1st Shift

Full Time Technical Fremont, OH, US

Salary Range: $24.00 To $27.00 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY:The CAD Specialist position is responsible for creating, converting, revising, and maintaining engineering drawings and 3D models using Solid Works and related CAD software. This position will develop manufacturing-ready drawings from PDF files, sketches, customer-supplied documents, legacy drawings, and engineering concepts. The CAD Specialist will create and maintain accurate solid models, assemblies, and detailed drawings that support manufacturing, sales, and engineering projects.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Solid Works and other approved design software.
  • Convert PDF drawings, hand sketches, and legacy documents into fully detailed CAD drawings and solid models.
  • Create and maintain part models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings including dimensions, tolerances, materials, finish requirements, and bill of materials information.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation and drawing standards.
  • Revise existing drawings and models to reflect engineering changes and process improvements.
  • Verify drawing accuracy through comparison to physical parts, existing equipment, customer documents, and engineering requirements.
  • Support manufacturing by providing production drawings, layouts, assembly aids, and fabrication details.
  • Collaborate with engineering, facilities, maintenance, and operations personnel to develop solutions for equipment and process improvements.
  • Maintain electronic drawing files and revision history in accordance with company document control procedures.
  • Assist in reverse engineering existing components and assemblies when drawings are unavailable.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary engineering information and designs.
  • Be familiar with and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Company Quality System and how it relates to this position and company quality objectives.
  • Is responsible for:
  • Understanding and following policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Identifying and reporting product, process, and quality system non-conformities to appropriate personnel.
  • Supporting implementation of corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Maintaining accurate drawing records and revision control documentation.

ACCOUNTABILITY:This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

COMPETENCIES:

  • 3D solid modeling and assembly design
  • Engineering drawing creation and interpretation
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, CAD Design, or related field preferred
  • Solid Works certification preferred

    Minimum of 2 years CAD drafting and modeling experience
  • Experience converting PDF drawings into production-ready CAD drawings
  • Experience creating and managing 3D solid models and assemblies
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position operates primarily in an office environment utilizing computer-aided design software, standard office equipment, and engineering systems. The position may periodically require visits to manufacturing and warehouse environments to verify dimensions, inspect equipment, support projects, and gather design information.

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other PPE as required. The physical demands of this position are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
