Security ensures order is kept in the nightclub; that everyone is safe and has a good time. They monitor people by checking I.D.s, preventing people from acting aggressively or destructively, and protecting both staff and guests as well as property. If a person is acting in a dangerous or unseemly manner, security's job is to warn that person and, if needed, eject them from the venue.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas which may include but are not limited to areas such as the main building, outlying buildings, grounds, parking areas, stairways, and mechanical areas.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Verbally intervenes during a crisis. This includes the functional ability to quickly grasp various situations, develop rapport with individuals who may be showing signs of emotional, verbal or physical aggression, and to be supportive or directive as necessary and appropriate.
  • Escalates to physically intervenes during crises only when necessary. This includes the functional ability to physically restrain people who may be physically larger and heavier while making all possible efforts not to inflict injury, requiring retention of trained knowledge under stress as well as the ability to meet significant physical demands. It includes the ability to continue to request or direct compliance from people while they are being restrained.
  • Remains vigilant for activities which could result in bodily injury, damage to or loss of property.
  • Security must check guest IDs at the door to make sure each person in the building is at least 21 years old. Security must spot and turn away people with false IDs.
  • Writes accurate, clear, legible reports; enforces and abides by all policies and guidelines.
  • Maintains or exceeds standards of personal appearance, grooming, cleanliness, and hygiene. This includes wearing proper uniform at all times while working.
  • Prohibited from carrying deadly weapons or weapons used for blunt force.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Security Qualifications and Skills

The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Regularly stand and walk for eight to ten hours; climb sets of stairs repetitively throughout shift; occasionally required to sit, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Consistently reach shoulder level, above head and below waist; push, pull, lift and carry fifty (50) pounds including up flights of stairs, occasionally lift excess of seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Must be able to work in environmental exposure to low or high volume noise, cold, heat, water, and cleaning materials.
  • Passible understanding of English Language, writing skills and basic mathematics.
  • Preference given to applicants with successful completion of police academy, military training, or degree in security discipline.
  • Ability to undergo a psychological screening assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist.
  • Preferred have alcohol safety training; ASK or Serv Safe Alcohol, required to acquire with company sponsorship and recertify annually.
  • Submit to and pass State and Federal criminal background checks.
