Accounting Clerk for a diversified construction group in Fresno, CA – Temporary to Hire. 40‑hour week, Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Salary $20 – $25 per hour.

Job Overview

Established Central Valley contractor specializing in heavy civil work, including grading, paving, concrete, and underground utilities. Known for a strong safety culture, hands‑on crews, and delivering projects efficiently. The construction Accounting Clerk will assist in multiple areas, including payroll, and provide full‑time, general accounting support.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and maintaining accurate aging reports.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist with payroll functions, including processing, payment, and record keeping.
  • Work with vendors, ensuring all expenses are coded and matched correctly.
  • Perform data entry tasks and utilize Microsoft Office and Excel to maintain records and create reports.
  • Utilize a ten‑key calculator to ensure accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with cost control procedures, including preparation and analysis of costing reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and aging reports.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong data entry skills, with experience using a ten‑key calculator.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with payroll processing, vendor management, and expense coding.
  • Strong understanding of cost control procedures.
