Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Fresno, California. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Lead monthly close activities by preparing and reviewing schedules, posting adjustments, and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.

- Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger through detailed analysis, proper coding, and timely resolution of discrepancies.

- Prepare and record journal entries with supporting documentation in accordance with accounting policies and established procedures.

- Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis and investigate variances to keep financial data complete and reliable.

- Complete bank reconciliations by matching activity, identifying exceptions, and resolving outstanding items promptly.

- Support financial accuracy by reviewing transactions, validating balances, and coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed.

- Utilize ERP to process accounting activity, generate reports, and maintain organized financial records.

Requirements

- 5+ years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accountant capacity.

- Demonstrated experience managing month-end close processes in a deadline-driven environment.

- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

- Proven ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and bank reconciliations accurately.

- Hands-on experience using ERP for day-to-day accounting functions.

- Solid analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
