Library Technician – Trona Branch Library

The San Bernardino County Library System is hiring a Library Technician for the Trona Branch Library. This role involves implementing system-wide programs in youth, adult, literacy, volunteer, and technology areas; providing reference and circulation services; performing back‑room operations; shelving and ordering library materials; checking books in and out; issuing and renewing library cards; and collecting fines and fees via a computerized circulation system.

• Implement system-wide programs in youth, adult, literacy, volunteer, and technology.

• Collect fines and fees on the computerized circulation system.

• Minimum age of 16; if under 18 and a student, a valid work permit is required.
• Experience using computers and cash handling skills is highly desirable.
• Excellent oral communication skills and ability to convey information clearly to the public.
• No prior experience required.

This is a part‑time position scheduled for up to 38 hours per two‑week pay period. Weekend and evening work is required. Part‑time employees receive pro‑rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave based on scheduled hours. No retirement or health benefits are provided.

Physical requirements include frequent reaching, bending, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting of materials up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.

Applicants must have legal right to work in the United States and must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, work history verification, a job‑related physical exam, drug screening, and a TB screening.
