Purchasing Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator I) Compensation and Benefits
- Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,047 - $5,896 per month.
- Full‑time position (40 hours per week), probationary, non‑exempt.
- Medical, dental, vision plans; membership in CalPERS; sick and vacation time; 15 paid holidays per year; fee‑waiver education program.
Under general supervision, the Purchasing Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for purchase order and invoice processing, customer service functions, and general office coordination. The incumbent independently performs a full range of clerical and administrative support duties requiring knowledge of university procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple workflows in a high‑volume environment.
Key Qualifications- Knowledge of:
- Standard office methods, procedures, and practices, including principles of customer service.
- English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
- Understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
- Purchasing practices and procedures.
- Office systems and technology:
Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Interpret and apply policies and procedures, using judgment and discretion when precedents do not exist.
- Review invoicing and work order data to determine accurate payments.
- Communicate orally, in writing and in presentation of standard information.
- Work effectively with faculty, students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Perform standard arithmetic functions; track and compare data.
- Create and maintain program files and records; provide data for review and strategy development.
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate complex projects; support a team‑based work environment.
- Draft and compose documents, reports and correspondence.
- Respond to inquiries, providing detailed information.
- Use independent judgment, discretion and initiative to troubleshoot office administration problems and develop practical solutions.
- Handle confidential information; exercise good judgment on sensitive matters.
- Promote a positive, service‑oriented collegial work environment.
- Completion of a high‑school program or technical/vocational program.
- Three years of progressively responsible general office administrative experience.
- Preferred:
Experience working with a CMMS.
