- Assists librarians in overseeing the activities of an assigned library, including scheduling and assigning tasks to staff, student workers, and volunteers; verifies work for accuracy and compliance with procedures; assists staff in resolving problems.
- Provides lead work guidance and direction to student aides and volunteers; assigns, schedules, monitors and trains them on work procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Provides detailed assistance to patrons at the circulation desk; circulates library materials, assists patrons with computers, media equipment, photocopiers, and other library equipment; accepts and processes payments for fees and fines; manages patron records; answers phones and email inquiries.
- Creates and monitors reports that generate overdue notices; contacts students to verify accounts; places school record holds; creates final notice billings and submits documentation to the Business Office.
- Ensures money drawers are prepared with change; balances cash and fine drawers; empties public‑use copiers and printers that require payments; makes periodic deposits.
- Coordinates interlibrary and inter‑facility loan processes; coordinates reserve activities; receives, catalogs, and labels new reserve items.
- Coordinates acquisition, organization, and accessibility of periodical print publications for the library collection.
- Receives, checks shipments of library materials; catalogs, tags, and enters new items into the computerized system; maintains inventory control systems; orders library supplies.
- Maintains records of circulation, attendance, intra‑library loans, periodicals, database usage, student hours, fines, holds, requisitions, invoices, and deposits; retrieves data for annual reports and accreditation; conducts research and prepares ad‑hoc reports as required.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding complex clerical and technical library matters; explains policies; provides forms and guidance to students and faculty.
- Coordinates mending activities; trains staff on basic mending procedures.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for library staff and students; collaborates with the Dean, librarians, and other staff to create training materials.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development to enhance equity‑minded practices within the District.
- Produces newsletters, brochures, signs, handouts, graphs, displays, and other documents to promote or explain library resources and services.
- Participates in the opening and closing of the library following established procedures, ensuring safety and security for patrons.
- Responds to and troubleshoots user problems with computers, WiFi, copiers and printers, copy‑card machines, and other library equipment; reports maintenance issues to facilities personnel and advises supervisor of major system problems.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in library science or library technology and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in processing, circulating, and storing library materials, including supervisory experience; or equivalent training and experience.…
