The Project Controls Analyst supports the Electric Operations team by managing project cost tracking, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting for electric transmission and distribution projects. This role helps ensure that projects meet budget, schedule, and operational objectives through detailed financial monitoring, data validation, and reporting. The analyst will support project managers and stakeholders by maintaining project schedules, validating cost and schedule data, and producing performance reports using enterprise systems such as SAP and Primavera P6
. Strong analytical capabilities and advanced Excel skills are required to validate data, analyze schedules, and support forecasting and budgeting activities. The position requires strong organizational skills, effective stakeholder communication, and the ability to work across cross‑functional teams within a fast‑paced utility operations environment.
- Develop and maintain project cost plans and forecasts to determine if project objectives are achievable.
- Create and update monthly budget forecasts and maintain cost reporting accuracy.
- Prepare cost and schedule status reports and analyze project performance against objectives.
- Identify cost or schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Support responses to project budget, GRC, or FERC cost inquiries with accurate project data.
- Communicate project cost, schedule, and risk status to project teams and stakeholders.
- Interface with design and planning resources and associated software systems.
- Assist in preparation of advance authorizations, job estimates, and re‑authorizations.
- Process journal entries and coordinate goods receipts within enterprise systems.
- Maintain logs for scope changes, contingency releases, change orders, and journal entries.
- Manage project documentation and maintain records within electronic document management systems.
- Track project milestones and report progress or deviations from schedule.
- Maintain order tracking and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project closeout activities and ensure all compliance documentation is completed.
- Provide Project Managers with monthly cost and schedule variance analysis reports.
- Generate weekly and monthly project performance reports for management stakeholders.
- Validate and analyze weekly and monthly data sets for reporting accuracy.
- Support ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives within project management operations.
- Monitor and report on forecasting performance using enterprise financial tracking tools.
- Analyze financial results and identify major cost drivers affecting project outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and other scheduling systems.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and collect progress data to update project schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, engineering, finance, construction management, or project management.
- At least 1 year of experience in electric or gas transmission and distribution operations, business planning, finance, accounting, or project management.
- Experience supporting project cost tracking, financial reporting, or scheduling functions.
- Experience working with project documentation and reporting processes.
- Experience with Primavera P6 project scheduling software
