The General Services Department, Business Manager role is highly focused on budgeting and accounting, offering the opportunity to step into a key leadership position where you will guide essential business operations, shape policies, and support decision-makers across the organization. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and possess strong budgeting and accounting experience may be deemed most qualified and referred to the department for further consideration.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing financial and budget functions for the department including mid-year and annual budget development.
- Monitoring monthly budget projections, preparing and presenting quarterly financial reports, and making recommendations based on data driven analysis.
- Overseeing accounting activities including accounts payables, accounts receivables, , journal entries, Form 10 requests, pre-billing, and risk reimbursements.
- Developing, reviewing, and monitoring budget and expenditure requests.
- Providing administrative and technical support to management and staff.
- Coordinating projects and activities with other departments and/or external agencies.
- Supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Performing related duties as assigned.

The current vacancy exists in the General Services Department. The Business Manager classification exists in several departments. Therefore, the City of Fresno may choose to utilize this recruitment for future vacancies. The duties, work location, and schedule of this position may vary by assignment, please inquire about specific details if called upon for an interview.
This is an unclassified position in which the incumbent serves at the will of the Department Director.
The RequirementsApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for further consideration:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance or related field
AND
Four (4) years of professional, administrative, operations, budgetary or similar experience.
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
Additional RequirementsPossession of a valid California Driver's License may be required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and a current copy of their driving record.
