Role

& Responsibilities

The Project Manager (PM) acts as a seasoned member of the liaison team between the clients and the laboratory.

  • Acts as the primary contact person for the clients at the laboratory and as an advocate for the clients to ensure their analytical requirements are met with satisfaction.
  • Provides consultation for clients to advise them of analytical requirements to meet regulatory compliance and project objectives.
  • Reviews contract and project specific requirements including turnaround time, methods, analyte lists, reporting limits, report deliverables, etc.
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with all stakeholders of the projects, including the clients, regulators, environmental professionals, field services staff, sample receiving staff, and laboratory departments as needed, to ensure a successful project.
  • Monitors the status and progress of the projects. Acts as the primary consultant within the laboratory for all matters pertaining to the projects. Alerts clients immediately of any issues that might affect the quality or delivery of the results.
  • Reviews analytical results and the final reports to ensure data quality objectives and all contract and project requirements are met. Notifies clients immediately of any deficiency, non‑conformance, or regulatory violations.
  • Handles all follow‑up inquiries by the clients, including report amendment, invoice amendment, resampling, reanalysis and additional testing.
  • Occasionally visits clients as a way of building client relationships.
  • Teaches BSK Sampling Class on a regular basis.
  • Provides tour of the laboratory facility.
  • Acts as a leader and mentor to the Project Coordinator(s).
  • Provides training and guidance to function as a CS liaison team.
  • Performs or delegates as necessary to perform the following project related tasks:
    • Contacts client via phone, e‑mail, or in‑person.
    • Prepares bottle orders according to project specification.
    • Reviews daily sample confirmation reports and verifies them against the chain‑of custody (COC) forms for accuracy and completeness to ensure proper laboratory tests are performed and the results appropriately reported.
    • Creates or updates client information, price quotation, and project setup, including scope of work, analysis customization, reporting and invoicing instructions.
    • Coordinates with the Dispatcher for sampling events or sample pickups for client projects.
    • Coordinates subcontracting work including preparing subcontract COC, sample delivery, obtaining quotation and results from the subcontract laboratories, and any subcontracting issues. Reviews subcontract results for completeness and soundness.
    • Reviews analytical results for data quality and completeness. Communicates with laboratory for any questions regarding the data.
    • Generates analytical reports and electronic data deliverables. Prepares special reporting such as assembling data packages, EDT submission, Water Trax submission, Geotracker submission, etc. Processes amendment of reports and EDDs where appropriate.
    • Prepares and reviews invoices to ensure accurate billing for all work performed. Processes amendment of invoices where appropriate.
    • Receives payment from clients and handles monetary transactions.
