Position SummaryThe Team Lead
- Intake is a working lead responsible for the day-to-day coordination, accuracy, organization, and flow of
shop-floor intake and Intake/Cleaner activities for firefighter PPE. In addition to performing hands-on Intake/Cleaner duties,
this position serves as the primary shop-floor resource for receiving, documentation, chain of custody, tagging, tracking,
sorting, staging, cleaning workflow, and movement of customer gear through the initial shop process. The Team Lead helps
ensure customer property is accurately identified, protected, documented, and routed through established Company and ISP
processes. This position reports to the Operations Manager and provides functional day-to-day direction within the
intake/cleaner area; hiring, termination, formal discipline, compensation, overtime approval, customer-pricing, and
company-policy decisions remain with management unless specifically delegated.

Key Responsibilities- Perform all core Intake/Cleaner duties, including receiving, documenting, tagging, sorting, tracking, staging, cleaning support, loading/unloading, pickups/deliveries when assigned, and general operational support.
- Take day-to-day ownership of the intake and shop-floor receiving area, including the organization and flow of incoming gear from arrival through cleaning, inspection, hydrostatic testing, repair, or the next assigned process step.
- Receive firefighter gear and related PPE; compare received items against customer paperwork, manifests, PODs, tags, work instructions, or other available documentation and promptly identify discrepancies.
- Help ensure each item and ensemble is correctly identified, tagged, associated with the proper customer/work order, and staged according to established process requirements.
- Maintain accurate chain-of-custody practices and help prevent lost, mixed, misidentified, or incorrectly routed customer property.
- Enter, verify, or review intake and tracking information in Company systems, including Gear Tracker or other approved software when applicable.
- Coordinate tagging, barcode/identifier application, sorting, counting, staging, and routing of gear through required shop processes.
- Coordinate routine Intake/Cleaner tasks among qualified team members based on workload, customer priorities, due dates, and direction from the Operations Manager.
- Perform spot checks of intake documentation, tags, counts, customer identification, staging locations, and system entries for completeness and accuracy.
- Hold or separate gear when customer identification, quantity, documentation, contamination, safety, or chain-of-custody concerns must be resolved before further processing.
- Coach and train Intake/Cleaner staff on receiving procedures, documentation standards, tagging, tracking, safe handling, cleaning workflow, customer-property protection, and shop organization.
- Support onboarding and cross-training of Intake/Cleaner employees and communicate training needs, recurring errors, or performance concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate with Sewing/Repair, Inspection, Final Inspection, Shipping, and other operational functions to keep gear moving and resolve missing or inconsistent information.
