The Special Projects Estimator plays a critical role in our organization by accurately estimating costs for various electrical construction projects. Through meticulous analysis of project technical requirements, this role ensures that cost estimates are comprehensive, transparent, and aligned with project objectives. The Estimator collaborates closely with project stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making and successful project execution.
What You'll Do- Conduct detailed analysis and assessment of project requirements.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
- Consider materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs in estimations.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documents.
- Identify potential challenges and cost-effective solutions.
- Determine the most suitable approaches based on technical requirements.
- Utilize specialized software and tools for quantity take-offs.
- Calculate materials and labor hours required for project components.
- Ensure precision in estimations through rigorous calculations.
- Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Negotiate favorable terms and maintain updated cost databases.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties affecting project costs.
- Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
- Incorporate risk factors into cost estimates for accurate projections.
- Actively seek out and secure new projects to ensure a continuous flow of work for the department.
- Establish and maintain trustworthy relationships with customers to foster repeat business.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, proposals, and bid documents.
- Clearly outline assumptions, methodologies, and pricing breakdowns.
- Present documents for review by management.
- Work closely with CEO's, branch managers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Validate project requirements and address inquiries.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback into cost estimation processes.
- Evaluate alternative design and construction methods.
- Optimize project costs without compromising quality or functionality.
- Propose value engineering solutions to enhance project competitiveness.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in all cost estimation activities.
- Adhere to established standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Uphold the organization's reputation for reliability and integrity.
- Perform any other job-related duties or function as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 4-7 years of experience in electrical in electrical construction estimating.
- Proficiency in cost estimation methodologies, techniques, and tools.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices related to cost estimation.
