30 Action News, the ABC Owned Television station in Central California, is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to join our top-rated news team. We want someone who thrives on breaking news and excels at telling accurate, balanced, and engaging stories.

The ideal candidate will report for the station’s newscasts and digital platforms, all while keeping the audience updated along the way on social media. Our reporters are expected to turn creative and memorable stories, often fronting them with active live shots. The ideal candidate innovates, pitches strong stories, and is willing to experiment with new technology. This person must be organized, flexible, and work well under pressure and constant deadlines.

We want someone who is naturally curious, receptive to feedback, and brings a positive attitude every day.

• Research, set up interviews, and write content daily.
• Collaborate with photojournalists, producers, assignment editors, and managers to execute story assignments.
• Effectively deliver breaking news live on-air, without a script.
• Shoot and edit stories as needed.
• Fill-in anchor as needed.

• 3+ years of reporting experience preferred. Candidates with demonstrated storytelling and journalism skills will also be considered.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

• Knowledge of the Central Valley
• Bilingual skills
• Success creating engaging vertical videos for social media

• College Degree

The hiring range for this position in Fresno, California is $60,000 to $70,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
