Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

VA Central California Health Care System is currently seeking a full-time Psychiatrist for our Mental Health Service. The psychiatrist will work with an interdisciplinary team of Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and several other allied mental health professionals. The mix of responsibilities will include Administrative and Clinical duties. The Veteran population is diverse with many mental health related issues to include but not limited to Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Severe Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorders, and medical co-morbidities.
The VACCHCS is a core training site for the University of California San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Residency Program. With a faculty appointment, opportunities for resident supervision, teaching, and clinical research will be available. This position also has an academic appointment with University of California San Francisco UCSF. UCSF seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

Major duties and responsibilities include:
* Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management (medication assisted therapy), suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychosocial treatment, and overall care of patients with substance use, addiction, and comorbid psychiatric disorders.
* Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
* Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
* Participates effectively in committees, team meetings, treatment planning, conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
* Actively engage and contribute in achieving performance matrix for the pain management program.
* On-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
* Other duties as assigned.
