The Cesar Chavez Foundation is seeking a part-time after school lead teacher to support implementation of our after-school programs in Fresno, CA, starting in February 2026. Through our various after-school programs, we develop students’ art, language, mathematics and reading/writing skills as well as their leadership and confidence. We are seeking an after-school lead teacher with a deep commitment to creating opportunities for underserved youth and an excitement around supporting other adult educators.
This position includes 1 day on site teaching youth after school, and other hours with a flexible schedule and location, coordinating program set-up and implementation.
- Manages the set-up and implementation of a growing CCF in-person programs in Fresno, towards excellent, equity-focused results
- Builds relationships with partners and program participants, communicating adeptly with a variety of stakeholders from senior leaders at districts and organizations to families and children
- Oversees recruitment of students for educational programs
- Oversees program implementation, including working with partner organizations and observing and managing part-time/external program staff towards desired results
- Uses data to progress monitor and adjust course, as necessary, to ensure programmatic goals are met
- Travels (1-2x weekly) to support program implementation and teaches at 1 site/week
- Maintains records and files for all educational programs and ensures compliance with all program regulations
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience leading students in grades Kindergarten – 8th grade with strong results
- Experience making timely curriculum adjustments to meet student and program needs
- Experience utilizing effective classroom management and engagement strategies
- Experience giving just-in-time (JIT) feedback
- Knowledge of Google Suite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.)
- In progress or completed California Multiple/Single Subject or Substitute teaching credential is preferred
- Ability to learn quickly and model strong instructional practices
- Ability to use judgment to change course on the spot, adjusting lesson plans to reach desired outcomes
- Exemplary organization, planning and detail-orientation
- Open to feedback
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building
- Strong and energetic communicator with both students and adults
- Applicants must be available to fill in for teachers during afternoon hours (2:15-5:45pm) if needed
- Personifies the social justice ideals espoused by Cesar Chavez and embodies the Si Se Puede! attitude
- Must complete FBI/DOJ livescan in California
- Hourly rate; $35-$45 depending upon experience
