Department OverviewThe Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers lower‑division, upper‑division and postbaccalaureate/credential courses for the preparation and professional development of PreK‑12 teachers. The department also houses two master’s programs (M.A.Ed.
-C&I and MAT) and two advanced certificate programs – educational technology and research methods. The Department provides educational research courses for eight graduate programs in the Kremen School. Department faculty are active in teaching, scholarship, service, and grant leadership.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate, credential, and/or graduate courses offered by the department.
Qualified candidates may ask to teach any of the following courses:
- CI and ERE courses
- Other classes as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies. Instructors are responsible for preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes.
ConditionalAppointment
An appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Order of Work provisions apply.
Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358). The temporary faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507–6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs).
Anticipated SemesterThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining beyond that time must reapply.
Fall 2025:
August 18, 2025 – December 22, 2025
Spring 2026:
January 15, 2026 – May 22, 2026
- Master’s degree in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence built on merit, talent, diversity, accessibility, and equal opportunity.
- CI and ERE 100‑level courses require at least a master’s degree; 200‑level courses require a doctorate.
- Credential courses require a teaching credential and relevant TK‑12 classroom teaching experience.
- Instructors of online courses must be online‑certified and/or complete QLT training before teaching online.
- Commitment to teaching excellence in higher education with evidence such as teaching evaluations.
- Successful teaching experience in a higher education setting.
- Recent experience teaching at the PreK‑12 level.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as positions open. Review may begin as early as April 1, 2025 for a Fall 2025 assignment.
