The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves.

Providing instruction in Theatre Arts on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:

  • Teaching the full range of theatre arts courses which include classes in theatre appreciation, costume design, costume construction, and theatrical make‑up application;
  • Managing the costume shop, including oversight of daily operations, inventory tracking, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety protocols;
  • Partnering with the Dean to administer the annual costume shop budget to ensure responsible use of resources;
  • Supervising and directing student aides in shop‑related tasks;
  • Providing oversight during evening and weekend hours including technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and strike periods;
  • Leads the design and implementation of costumes for major theatrical productions, from initial concepts through final execution; oversees and actively participates in sourcing, construction, alterations, and fittings, ensuring designs are fully realized within production schedules, budgets, and shop staffing constraints;
  • Mentorship of design students in the production process;
  • Participating in student recruiting, mentoring, and advising;
  • Communicating effectively and professionally with students and staff;
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
  • Participating in program review, curriculum development and revisions, including student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
