The Department of Mathematics seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as College Algebra, Pre‑calculus, Introductory Statistics, Calculus, and upper‑division statistics and applied mathematics courses. Other classes may be assigned as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.
Responsibilities- Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams.
- Teach all courses in person, with classes scheduled as stated.
- Adhere to and implement university and system‑wide policies as directed.
- Conditional appointment based on budget and enrollment; order of assignment follows collective bargaining agreement.
- Must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (no sponsoring agency for temporary faculty).
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU class code 2358 range. For a Master’s degree holder, monthly salary range is $5,507 – $6,677 when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Actual salary adjusted by WTUs assigned.
Required Qualifications- Education:
Master’s Degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (or closely related field) with graduate‑level mathematics coursework. - Experience:
Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse students; evidence of successful teaching experience.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through experience and evaluations.
- Experience implementing active learning techniques in mathematics and statistics courses.
- Solid mathematical background.
- Ph.D. required for teaching upper‑division mathematics or statistics courses.
The pool is continuous; positions are filled as needed for each semester. Available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; reapplication is required for a longer term.
