Responsibilities
  • Teach a part‑time schedule of Badminton courses as assigned;
  • Provide direction as head coach for all facets of a successful college Badminton program;
  • Recruit players, identify, and recommend student‑athletes in a manner that encourages diversity while maintaining a competitive team;
  • Support academic success of student‑athletes by monitoring their academic progress and ensuring academic eligibility;
  • Ensure rules compliance, managing the cross‑country program in full compliance with 3C2A, SCCCD Board rules and administrative regulations, and Athletics Department policies and procedures;
  • Handle athletic operations: schedule contests, plan and supervise practices, games, travel, and hire assistant coaches;
  • Engage in community and college involvement: perform public relations functions positively, promote athletes to media, alumni and community, and cultivate donor relations;
  • Maintain positive relationships with all feeder programs;
  • Use a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including innovative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff;
  • Use effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to institutionally approved curriculum outlines;
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc. in keeping with course objectives;
  • Provide course syllabi to students;
  • Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
  • Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed;
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must exhibit responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, including academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic factors that relate to equity‑minded practice in the classroom.

  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or Kinesiology and two years of directly related professional experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and Master’s degree in any life science and two years of directly related professional experience;
  • A valid California Community College Credential;
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
