Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Public Administration

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at California State University, Fresno, housed in the Department of Political Science, provides a professional degree for individuals seeking to serve the public through effective administration. Core competencies include leading and managing in public governance, contributing to public policy, analytical and critical thinking, public service perspective, and communication with diverse workforce and citizenry.

MPA Program seeks part‑time lecturers to teach one‑ and three‑unit courses as needed. One‑unit courses are practitioner seminars related to the lecturer’s professional experience.

Note:

1‑unit classes may not run for the entire semester.

Instructor Responsibility: Temporary faculty follow university policies. Responsibilities include preparation, delivery, proctoring, grading of lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered as scheduled, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment: Appointment depends on budget and enrollment. Order of assignment follows CSU–CFA collective bargaining agreement, starting with tenure‑line faculty.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with qualifications within class code 2358. For a Master’s degree: $5,507 – $6,677 per month for full‑time (15 WTUs). Actual pay adjusted based on WTUs assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Public Administration, or related field.
• Experience: Successful teaching at undergraduate level in public administration or related field. Commitment to diverse student body.
• Teaching Excellence: Evidenced through prior evaluations or other evidence.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at graduate level.
• Professional experience in public administration or related area.
