We invite qualified instructors to teach Spanish courses in the following subjects:
Spanish 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A, 4B, or other courses as identified in the department’s guidance to current students.
Temporary faculty are expected to adhere to university and system-wide policies and provide the full range of instructional activities, including preparation, delivery, proctoring, grading, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode specified (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Conditional AppointmentAppointment is contingent upon budget, enrollment, and the Order of Work provisions of the CSU–CFA collective bargaining agreement, which prioritizes tenure‑line faculty before lecturer appointments.
CompensationCompensation commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The range for a holder with a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month for 15 WTUs, with adjustments based on assigned WTUs.
Semester & AvailabilityThe temporary faculty pool is open continuously and positions are filled as needed. Applicants may need to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains active for two academic terms; faculty wishing to stay beyond that must re‑apply.
Fall 2026:
August 19 → December 22, 2026
Spring 2027:
January 15 → May 26, 2027
Education: Master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field (any accredited institution).
Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred QualificationsCommitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
Professional Spanish translator experience.
