Terms:
Instructor assigned to teach any undergraduate Sociology courses including SOC 3, SOC 125, SOC 130W or others as needed. Instructors are responsible for preparing, delivering, proctoring, and grading lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, class projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). This position is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations, and is subject to assignment order as outlined by the CSU–CFA collective bargaining agreement.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master's degree holder, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month for 15 WTUs. Starting salaries are near the minimum; the monthly amount is adjusted for the number of WTUs assigned.
Anticipated SemesterPositions open continuously; pool remains for two academic terms. Applicants may need to begin teaching on short notice. Fall 2026:
August 19 – December 22, 2026; Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027.
- Education:
A Master’s degree in Sociology or a related field. - Experience:
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- A Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations or other evidence.
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
