The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:

- ASCI 61 (Dairy Cattle Production)
- ASCI 101 (Environment Mgmt of Farm Animals)
- ASCI 125 (Animal Genetics)
- ASCI 146 (Physiology of Lactation)
- ASCI 161 (Adv. Dairy Farm Mgmt)
- ASCI 164 (Adv. Commercial Dairy Mgmt Eval)
- ASCI 181 (Adv Lvstk, Meat, Dairy Eval)
- ASCI 185T (Topics in Animal Science)
- CSM 10 (The Scientific Method)
- or other classes as identified to fulfill educational goals of current students
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned (async, sync, in‑person, or hybrid).
The appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and adheres to the order of assignment provisions of the collective bargaining agreement between CSU and CSI. These provisions dictate the “Order of Work,” starting with tenure‑line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.
Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States;
Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range set by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries usually approach the minimum of the range, and final monthly compensation is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. It will remain in place for two academic terms; those wishing to stay beyond must reapply.

Education: Master’s degree in animal sciences or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Demonstrated commitment to effective collaboration with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to teaching excellence, evidenced by prior teaching experience or related evidence.
- Commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, demonstrated through prior teaching experience, evaluations, or other evidence.
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
- Ability to engage with students beyond the classroom.
