The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as:
- Chicano Artistic Expression
- Other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
The appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” which dictates that available courses must first be assigned to tenure-line faculty before being offered to new lecturer appointees.
Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. California State University, Fresno does not sponsor Temporary Faculty for work visas.
CompensationSalary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree, the salary range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full-time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range and may be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

These positions are open continuously and filled as needed. The temporary faculty pool is maintained for two academic terms; candidates wishing to remain beyond that must reapply.
- Fall 2026:
August 19 , 2026 – December 22 , 2026 - Spring 2027:
January 15 , 2027 – May 26 , 2027
- Education: Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies, Chicanx Studies, Latinx Studies, Multicultural Education, Latin American Studies with an emphasis in literature, art, gender studies, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent).
- Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced through prior teaching experiences, evaluations, or other evidence.
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
- Experience with online and hybrid instruction.
