What it’s like to be a Teaching FellowAs an Assistant Site Lead, you will work closely with the Site Lead to supervise and coordinate a high‑quality after school program. Your responsibilities include supporting staff and students, ensuring all activities align with program goals and safety standards, assisting with data entry and reporting, stepping in to lead activities, and acting as a key liaison between administration and the classroom.
Responsibilities- Assist with Coordination of Designated After school Program Site
• Coordinate assigned CTFF program activities with school administration.
• Collect, prepare, and submit program data.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure program materials are set up and stored properly.
• Assist with placement and development of students and staff.
• Train participants on program activities, attendance, participation, and program development.
• Communicate with parents, school personnel, and outside agencies to resolve issues.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce behavioral standards, providing disciplinary action as approved.
• Provide regular updates to the Site Lead on program effectiveness and recommend improvements. (Approximately 25% of day) - Assist with Marketing Program
• Develop a unique and marketable name for the site.
• Design and develop marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and posters.
• Create and implement incentive programs.
• Disseminate enrollment applications and increase program enrollments using creative marketing within budget constraints.
• Input attendance into approved CTFF software.
• Maintain records and reports required by state and federal agencies.
• Monitor and record student activities. (Approximately 10% of day) - Monitor and Observe Classroom
• Conduct daily classroom visits to ensure staff engagement.
• Coach and mentor staff for professional development.
• Allow flexibility for staff to manage instructional and enrichment time.
• Provide assistance, constructive feedback, and encouragement to students and staff.
• Review lesson plans to ensure alignment with teaching objectives.
• Assist with monitoring and determining student placement.
• Address student behavioral and conduct issues professionally. (Approximately 10% of day) - Tutor, Monitor, and Mentor Student Learning
• Engage in general tutoring duties following CTFF guidelines.
• Tutor, monitor, and mentor student learning daily.
• Plan or follow lesson plans to meet educational objectives.
• Submit lesson plan summaries to Teaching Fellows at day’s end.
• Tutor youth individually and in groups.
• Prepare reports on student activity and accomplishments.
• Enforce rules for good behavior and maintain an active learning environment.
• Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and health. (Approximately 50% of day) - Perform Other Duties as Assigned
• Temporarily assume duties of the site lead coordinator in their absence.
• Attend staff development trainings, academies, and meetings.
• Follow direction set by the site lead coordinator.
• Offer suggestions for program decisions.
• Maintain a visible presence and perform other duties as assigned. (Approximately 5% of day)
Minimum Requirements
- 18 years old or older
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Completion of 48 college units or passage of an approved exam, if applicable, to meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements
