Criminology- Law Enforcement or Victimology Assistant Professor

Assistant Professor (Tenure‑Track)
Start:
Fall 2027 (August 2027)

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal justice and related disciplines.

• Conduct scholarly and applied research, including grant writing and publication.

• Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, especially in Criminology and Forensic Behavioral Sciences majors.

• Participate in program development, committee service, and university governance activities as needed.

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related social science discipline.
• Applicants nearing completion of a doctorate (ABD) may be considered; the degree must be completed by August 1 2027.

Note:

Candidates holding only a J.D., Psy.

D., or Ed.D. are not eligible for this position.

• Ability to teach core curriculum courses of the Criminal Justice program.

• Record of excellence in university‑level teaching (graduate teaching assistant experience acceptable).
• Scholarly presentations, peer‑reviewed publications, and research experience in law enforcement and/or victimology.
• Demonstrated research at local, state, national, or international levels that can be applied to criminological and criminal justice issues.
• Ability or promise to include and supervise student research.

• Cover letter addressing the Law Enforcement or Victimology option and explaining how you meet the required and preferred qualifications.
• Current curriculum vitae.
• A scholarly writing sample.
• Names and contact information of three professional references.
• For on‑campus interview candidates: three current letters of recommendation dated within 12 months of full consideration date, official transcripts, and a research presentation.
