Assistant Professor – Tenure Track – Fall 2027

The Department of Kinesiology seeks an Assistant Professor to primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses to students majoring in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Administration, and Sport & Performance Psychology. The faculty member will engage in scholarly activity at the R2 level, pursue external funding, serve on committees across faculty governance, provide academic advising, chair and serve on thesis committees, and nurture collaborations within and beyond the Department, including community outreach.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Science, Cardiovascular Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Functional Anatomy, and related subjects.
• Develop and maintain rigorous course curricula and learning outcomes.
• Advising undergraduate and graduate students, including mentoring for clinical careers.
• Serve on department and university committees, including faculty governance and thesis committees.
• Conduct R2-level research, seek external funding, and publish scholarly work.
• Participate in community outreach and collaborative projects.
• Maintain a teaching load of approximately 12 units per semester after the first two academic years.

• Terminal doctoral degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Or, if ABD, the doctoral degree must be completed by August 1 2027.

• College‑level teaching in Kinesiology or a closely related discipline, preferably with emphasis in clinical exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, or functional anatomy.
• Experience in scholarly activity appropriate to R2 research expectations.

• Ability to teach one or more of the following areas:
  Clinical exercise physiology and/or cardiovascular physiology, Functional anatomy, General exercise science/exercise physiology courses.

• At least two years of full‑time teaching at the collegiate level.
• Graduate‑level teaching experience.
• Experience advising students pursuing clinical careers such as physical therapy, athletic training, or related fields.
• Clinical experience and/or research in clinical exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, or functional anatomy.
• Professional certifications or licenses (e.g., Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification, American Physical Therapy Association).
• Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding.
• Post‑doctoral study with evidence of independent funding acquisition.
• Ability to manage a 12‑unit teaching load while maintaining a research and service agenda.
