Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department

Position Summary:

Our interdisciplinary program explores gender and its intersections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, nationality, disability, and age. The department places emphasis on critical thinking, social justice, and empowering students to craft solutions to social problems.

Course offerings include:

• WGSS 10 - Intro to Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies
• WGSS 11 - Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies
• WGSS 12 - Critical Thinking
• WGSS 18 - Women and Ageing
• WGSS 165/PSYCH 165 - LGBTQ Psychology
• WGSS 122 - Queer Indigenous and Persons of Color

• Adhere to university and system-wide policies as directed by the Academic Policy Manual.
• Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
• Ensure all classes are offered as scheduled across all modes: asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid.

Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and are subject to the order of assignment provisions outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Candidates must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience within the established salary range for Academic Year Lecturers (Class Code 2358). For a master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Actual salary will adjust based on WTUs assigned per term.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed.

• Fall 2026:
  August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
• Spring 2027:
  January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027

• Education:
  
  A master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience:
  
  Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

• Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced through prior teaching experience or evaluations.
• Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate or community education level.
• Experience in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or a related field.

Review is conducted on a rolling basis as positions open. Key dates:

• Fall 2026 consideration:
  Final date to receive applications July 1, 2026.
• Spring 2027 consideration: projected.
• Closing of 2026‑2027 Academic Year announcement:
  March 1, 2027.
