Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Studio Art, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Art History
Department of Art and Design is accepting applications to its temporary faculty pool. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish a pool of qualified candidates from which temporary instructional appointments may be made to teach Studio Art, Graphic Design, Art History, or Interior Design.
Position SummaryThe pool may be used to assign instructors to undergraduate courses such as:
- Interior Design, Graphic Design
- Other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies as directed in the Academic Policy Manual, paragraph
2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the Order of Work provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. New lecturer appointments are made after tenure‑line faculty. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas.
CompensationCompensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for temporary faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range.
Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. The number of positions varies from semester to semester. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms;
those interested in remaining beyond that time must reapply.

A Master’s degree in Art with an emphasis in Interior Design, Art Studio, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
ExperienceDemonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred QualificationsA review of applications continues on a rolling basis as teaching positions open. Review may begin as early as June 15, 2026 for a Fall 2026 assignment.
