Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in a full range of art courses.
  • Teach at off‑campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, and via distant learning.
  • Develop and revise curriculum across modalities.
  • Use computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Participate collegially in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in Fine Arts, Art, or Art History; or (Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's in Humanities); or possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Art at the California community college level; or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V, Section 53406).
  • Foreign degrees evaluated by an approved credential‑evaluation service.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an innovative environment.
  • Ability to work with students of varied skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities.
  • Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.
  • Commitment to the California community college mission.
