Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in a full range of Mathematics courses:
    Arithmetic, Pre Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Trades Mathematics, Survey of Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Finite Mathematics, Business Calculus, Analytic Geometry, Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs; maintain subject matter currency; develop and revise curriculum.
  • Use computer and multimedia technology; participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
  • Teach using multiple methodologies at other campus sites, including day, evening, weekend, large classes, distance learning, classes for incarcerated students, and tutoring in the math lab.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics; OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in statistics, physics, or mathematics education; OR possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Mathematics at the California Community College level; OR equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
  • Degrees and credits from accredited institutions.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an innovative environment.
  • Work with students of diverse skills and goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including delivery via multiple modalities.
  • Recruit and articulate with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers, willingness to explore new technologies.
  • Commitment to the California community college mission.
