The Department of Recreation Administration offers a BS in Recreation Administration with options in community and youth, special events and tourism, outdoor recreation, recreation therapy, and sport and entertainment facility management. The college emphasizes community engagement.
Position SummaryThe successful applicant may teach recreation, tourism, outdoor recreation, special events, sport and entertainment facility management courses. Undergraduate courses may include RA 117 (Special Events and Tourism) and RA 131 (Foundations of Special Events and Tourism), or other classes identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.
ResponsibilitiesInstructor responsibilities include adherence to university and system-wide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Responsibilities also include preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled for the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the CSU-CFA collective bargaining agreement. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).
CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month (full-time 15 WTUs). Actual salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Anticipated SemesterThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Positions are part-time and vary by semester. Appointments are often made just before the start of the term. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; reapplication is required to remain beyond that period.

Education: Master’s degree in Recreation and Parks Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
