Music Instructor, Part‑time Adjunct Pool

Location: East Kern, Tehachapi, CA

Salary: $67.00 Hourly (may vary by assignment)

Job Type: Temporary – Adjunct

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in a full range of music courses.
  • Teach across campus sites, during day, evening, weekend, and large classes, and in distance‑learning formats.
  • Develop and revise curriculum; maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Use computers and multimedia technology to enhance instruction.
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department.
  • Engage collegially in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in Music; or Bachelor’s in Music and Master’s in Humanities; or possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Music at the California Community College level.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students.
  • Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V Section 534.06).
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in a diverse environment.
  • Work with students of a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including content delivered via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
